Bedroom colors can be entirely personal. After all, it is your own space and you should be able to be yourself there. However, if you like to think that your bedroom is tasteful and you want it to look good in the eyes of others there are a few things to watch out for when choosing colors for the room itself and for major items such as bedding ensembles and curtains


Don't Be too Dull

If you are not so confident about choosing colors you may think it is an easy option to go for neutral colors for everything. But if you choose a cream bedding ensemble, cream walls, beige carpet and cream curtains your room will look coordinated but dull. There is nothing wrong with a neutral or natural color scheme but you do need some color for impact so remember to add a focus color with accessories. For instance, you might add an orange throw and rug to brighten things up.

Don't Use Colors Which Clash

If you don't have much sense of color you may end up with colors which don't work well together. The easiest way to combat this is to borrow a color scheme from a piece of fabric which you like. You can take different colors from the fabric and use them in different parts of the room - for the flooring and walls for example and then use the fabric itself in cushions or curtains.

Don't Use Cold Colors

Even if you like blue, it is better to use it in other parts of your home than in your bedroom as you always want to feel warm and comfortable there. Although your reaction to color is purely psychological it will affect how you feel as you walk into your bedroom every time you go there.

Don't Just Stick to Trends

You may love the latest fashionable color scheme and if that is the case go for it and enjoy it, but don't choose the latest colors just because they are the latest. You have to like them too.  When you are looking for paint color ideas or ideas for the entire design of the room, always remember that you are the one who will have to live with what you choose.
