Easy Drywall Patch

Making a drywall patch really isn't that difficult.  If you don't know how to make a drywall patch though, it can end up being one of those home projects you just sort of look at and groan about because your just a little bit concerned that if you screw it up, it could turn into a major project.  If you have ever had someone visit who decided to have a temper tantrum or was just too enthusiastic when they opened a door, you may find yourself needing one or two of these.

Before you go out searching for a how to repair drywall book, you may want to settle in and check out the following video.  Depending on what you have just sitting around in your garage, you might not even have to spring for a drywall patch kit.  This little home repair project uses a neat trick that takes advantage of leftovers you might have from an earlier drywall project.  One of the really useful things to come from the internet is the "how to" video.  Sure, there is a lot of junk out there, but sometimes you can find a gem.  I'll try to show those off here when I find them.

I for one have always learned a lot better by watching and then doing than from reading instructions.  I just don't have a lot of patience for reading poorly written manuals written in size 2 font.  This video doesn't have the best audio I've ever heard, but if you have a doorknob or fist sized hole in your drywall, it is a must watch.

If you don't have any extra small pieces of drywall sitting around your house, ask a neighbor.  Building materials are often hard to throw away.  This is because people don't like to put things they paid good money for into the garbage and also because most places won't take building materials away in the weekly trash pick-up.  I for one still have a piece of drywall sitting in my laundry room from a long ago project.  It has served as a blockade for a new puppy, a background for some photos I was taking for eBay and even as large cutting board when I was using an Exacto knife.  I guess I've gotten my money's worth out of it even if it never made it to the actual wall.
