The first I want to bring up in this post is in relations to the purpose of the table cloth. I can think of two major reasons. Firstly, it is meant to help make the table more aesthetically appealing. For example, if you have seen or encountered one of those folding banquet table, you'll probably understand what I'm hinting about. They are not pretty at all. As practical as they are, I'll tell you in the most straightforward manner that they are very plain looking. However, it doesn't have to be as you can simply cover it with a table cloth and hey presto! the table takes on a different look altogether.
The second reason is more practical in nature. Most of the time, whether it's a banquet table or dining table, they would be used as a setting for eating. As a result, the table may be exposed to spills from food and drinks. So table clothes can help protect them (to a certain extent) from such incidents.
I have to say, one of the most annoying things about using a table cloth is cleaning it after a meal. Depending on the food and drinks you and your guests have, the spills and stains can be very difficult to remove. I find this a time consuming activity so went about to figure out if there is at least some sort of workaround for this problem.
Firstly, their table clothes can come in different materials including polyester, cotton, vinyl and paper. If you have a table in the backyard patio or in a casual restaurant, perhaps a paper table cloth that can be disposed after use is sufficient.
Cotton table clothes can be visually appealing but the cleaning can be an issue. A way to get around this is to buy a table cloth protector. This sits on top on the table cloth itself thus protecting it from spillage. Additionally, it is transparent so your guests can still enjoy the appearance of the table cloth underneath.
