Would you rather be spending time inside decorating your home then outside raking leaves? I know how you feel. As a kid growing up, it was my job every fall to rake all the leaves which had accumulated along the fence between our yard and the neighbors. It was quite an injustice as the majority of leaves came from trees in our neighbor’s yard. It would usually take me an entire weekend to rake and bag all the leaves. A weekend I could have spent at the park or fishing with friends.
As an adult and home owner, I enjoy yard work as much as the next yard junkie. However, one thing I still despise is raking leaves. Maybe it’s some held over resentment from my childhood, but I always knew there had to be a better way. Enter the awesome yard sweeper!
One of the greatest home and garden tools I’ve purchased recently is a push lawn sweeper. These things are amazing; they save so much time not to mention my back and leg muscles. When I would rather be inside painting or decorating, I can just run this push lawn sweeper over my lawn a few times a week in the fall to keep up with the falling leaves. It really is a time saver.
If you’re thinking about purchasing a lawn sweeper, look into the push or human powered models as they’re friendlier for the environment. There certainly are sweepers that you can pull behind a garden or lawn tractor, but if you’re going to be outside, why not get some exercise. So even though you’re outside working in the yard, it is certainly reasonable to make the best use of your time. The time you save from not having to rake leaves, you can spend on landscaping or home projects that add value to your home.
