Setting up a home garden is helpful for children to gain the practical knowledge about gardening and knowing more about plant life. A hydroponic system is an excellent way to give the children some experience of plant biology within a shorter time frame as the plant grows much faster than the traditional method. It will give them some fun time as well.
A bucket is a good tool to set up a hydroponic system. Installation of hydroponic project is associated with various subjects that will give the children a little hands-on experience about those processes.
Installation of hydroponic garden system is almost the same as traditional gardening. It is a matter of putting together all the equipment and material. The children need to get acquainted with the systems like automated watering system, using nutrients and proper light along with a little parental guidance is enough to get them into action.
Primarily a bucket of two to five gallon capacity is needed. Drill several holes on the side of the bucket and these holes should be drilled around the bucket and also should be half inch away from the bottom of it. Now the bucket is ready to be filled up with growing medium.
Take another bucket to build reservoir for the plant. In this stage supervision of an adult is needed to mix water and hydroponic nutrient solution together in the second bucket.
Connect the drip line with a submersible pump and keep the pump into the water. It is also needed to keep an air pump on the out side of the reservoir. Connect the pump with air flowing pipe with the inside of the reservoir and attach it with an air stone.
Now fix timer with the submersible pump. A digital timer is a good option in this case. Set the timer to pass solution for once or twice a day for a minute. The drip line will pass out hydroponic solution to the plant in the first bucket.
This easy method is also good for the people who are new to hydroponic gardening and want to try it out initially. A large hydroponic system is also possible to set up to grow vegetables like tomato, peppers and so on. However, make sure that you are providing the best hydroponic solution to your plants for their healthy growth.
