Shaggy rug designs come in colors and shapes that make decorating a breeze. There is a round shag carpet design for every taste, from art deco geometric to retro wild and even soft classic ones that are ideal for more traditional décor themes. The newest shaggy rug styles come in two basic lengths and three general fibers. The first length is the long shag that resembles goat’s hair, and the second is a shorter pile that is rich and plush but not long and hairy. The three general styles are wool, like a sheepskin Flokati, chenille cotton which is really soft and snuggly, and leather. All of these come in several shapes, square, rectangular and round.
The round shag carpet styles are ideal for bedsides and living rooms, however, no matter what shape you decide upon, I advise against using shaggy rug styles in high traffic areas. Yes, there are some that are more durable, but in general, these carpets are made for snuggling and sitting on and cuddling into and not walking all over. They tend to be a little more difficult to care for simply because most have longer fibers and therefore will tend to attract more dirt. If used in bedrooms and living rooms these carpets will last a long time and be simple to shake clean or vacuum.
What makes shag so hot? Well, it has to do with the comfort they offer and also with the variety of modern colors they come in. There are some very unusual colors like pink and purple and sage green and teal blue and even black and multicolored pieces. Since they are relatively new, round shag carpet designers focus on the contemporary needs of decorators giving variations on grey and traditional cream or white to accommodate the clean crisp looks of many modern homes. They also offer affordable flooring solutions for students who are on a budget but want something really WOW like purple zebra design or a purple Flokati, or a bright red shaggy rug as an accent in an otherwise black and white studio.
