Alejandro Betancourt López borrows from baseball to describe how he invests. He swings for home runs, not singles, and he accepts the strikeouts that come with that choice.
The stance shapes which bets he takes. Small, safe gains hold little appeal next to the chance at an outsized win, even if some attempts miss entirely.
A favorable average
He measures himself by the ratio, not any single swing. “I hit more home runs than I strike out,” he said. “I’m very proud of that, that I don’t swing for first base. I always swing for a home run, and I do strike out and that’s a human thing, nobody gets everything perfect, but I have a good batting average.”
The candor about misses is part of the message. He treats the occasional strikeout as the cost of playing for the big result rather than a reason to shrink his swing.
Boldness without recklessness
The appetite comes paired with caution. Betancourt López insists on understanding the full downside before he commits. He names the consequences of a bad outcome so a bold bet never tips into a blind one.
He also credits obsessive attention to detail behind the swagger. Surrounding himself with strong people and studying an industry before entering it, he argues, is what keeps a high batting average from sliding.
